A major problem, addressed in Pakistan is the unfair exploitation and slavery of in brick kilns. The country stands eighth in the global slavery index with an estimated 3186000 people living in modern slavery and at least half of them are women, the deprived and needy people of Pakistan are often compelled, to take loan amounts from brick kiln owners, who in turn take their generations under slavery. The people are forced to work, day and night under scorching heat to still receive a significantly lesser wage.
So, we at World Hope started a program where we hear the struggles of these families and spread to them the word of God, pay their debt cost, and give them micro businesses, so they can stand on their own feet and sustain themselves.
Brick Kiln workers are skilled laborers not readily available in the market, unlike general labor. Hence, they are kept in bondage, against a certain cash amount and live permanently on Kilns. Some of the Kiln workers have spent their entire lives there are their children also facing the same situation now.
