Women constitute 51 percent of the total population and 22.7 percent of the labor force. Despite their recognized constitutional, legal, and religious rights, the status of women remained in the shadows. There is frequent news of harrowing incidents of girls as young as 14 being forced into marriages and falling victim to domestic and sexual violence are disturbingly frequent. About 50% of women in Pakistan lack basic education and the freedom to make their life decisions.
For women to stand up on their own feet and be financially independent we arranged sewing centers for women so they can learn sewing and make clothes to sell them to earn an adequate profit for themselves. to add on, we even have specially reserved adult education programs for women to improve their current position and stand up for their rights.
The second batch of women empowerment is progressing well. Women moving forward with their help. The work of sewing and cutting has created self- confidence in them.
Female graduated from this course, having learned garment quality, cloth measuring cutting and stitching, suit color combinations, seasonal fashions, sales and purchases, order placement, etc. three students received new sewing machines. Our trainers also gave lessons in the areas of capacity building, business ethics and personality development. Sixteen more students are currently enrolled.
HARRAPA (Sahiwal South Punjab) and BAHAR Colony (Lahore)
Two literacy schools are running in 2 different cities of Pakistan. Running with great success in HARAAPA and another in Lahore. Our goal was to raise awareness of these people which were not adorned with education. 39 females learned how to read and write in six months. We used a participatory approach with activities, team-based sharing, presentations, and creative activities. They can use these skills in these communities.
